Saturday night saw the club in the second round of the mini league at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre. It was, to say the least, a very hot evening. For those of you new to the mini league, it is different to other galas wherein a standard time is set for each event, if a swimmer swims faster than the time set they forfeit gala points. So it becomes my job to select the right swimmers for the right events. This often means a swimmer may not swim their best event, but it’s all good practice! We did get 4 time faults on the night, which out of 49 races is not too bad. Well done to those who went faster and had new personal best times, remember it is my problem to try and select the right swimmer.
We welcomed a number of new swimmers to the mini league: Ellis Elvin, Ruby Warwick, Nicole Maynard, Ellis Dollman, Beau Beckford, Braydon Burton, Shannon Benedicto, Carlos de la Cruz, Olivia Rudd, and Ellis Martin. Well done swimmers! I do try to rotate swimmers so especially our younger swimmers gain valuable experience, backed up by the more experienced.
I do not want to pick out any swimmers as they all swam brilliantly but I must say all our relay teams were exceptional not one DQ and the 6×1 breaststroke and Fly, relay teams were fantastic both finishing first. It was a whole new experience for some starting in the water shallow end with me shouting at them when to go but we rose to the occasion.

Lastly for those who did not catch the final result we came second on 163 points narrowly loosing out to Rochford and District on 167 points. Harwich, Clacton and Saffron Seals were well beaten on 124, 125 and 127 points.
