Day 1: British Summer Championships in Sheffield
Some excellent performances from our swimmers in the heats helped 4 out of 6 swimmers progress into the finals
Danielle Hartin was first to hit the pool in the Multi Classification 200 Free posting 2:23.49min in the heats to progress to the final where she posted 2:23.76 to pick up a well deserved Bronze medal.
James Dillon, competing in his first ever National Championships, swam 1:13.04 in his heat of the 100 Breaststroke to finish 19th fastest in Great Britain for 14yr olds.
Ellie Wheeler posted 5:05.38min in her heat of the 15yr olds 400 IM to qualify 8th for the final. She swam fractionally outside her heat time in the final (5.06.80min) to finish a very credible 7th.
Sam Perks and James Cooper both swam personal best times in their heats of the 15yr olds 50m Backstroke posting 27.91 and 28.61 respectively to qualify 4th and 8th. The final was a very close race with both posting personal best times again – Sam 27.87sec to finish 4th and James 28.53sec to finish 9th.
Vejune Petraityte swam just 1/10th outside her PB in the heats of the 15yr old 50m Breaststroke when posting 34.55sec to finish in 13th place and just 0.13sec outside making the final.
Well done to all 6 who took part in the opening day.
