It is with great pleasure we would like to welcome Chris Stothard back to the coaching team at the club. Upon his return, Chris will assume the role of the lead coach for Silver 1.
Chris was lead coach of Gold 2 in the 2014-2015 season when he was working at Ford during a placement year as part of his University studies. Chris is delighted to be back in Essex working at Ford and to be back at the club where he had some great memories. Chris began his coaching as a lane helper at Wakefield SC in 2010 and then took on the role as the coach at the University of Leeds swimming team whilst still competing himself. After his year at Basildon Chris returned to University to complete his studies and took on the role of the Performance Coach at the University in January 2016 after a short stint of being in charge of the Sprint group. Whilst in charge the University of Leeds had its best place finishes at the BUCS Championships with a 6th place overall finish behind the likes of Loughborough, Bath and Stirling.
Chris admits that coaching is where his heart lies and is really looking forward to being back at the club after the Bank Holiday weekend.
